 B23ardo Hotel, 2017

“Language is an abominable misunderstanding which makes up a part of matter..”

Brion Gysin, 1963

In September 2017  I documented a journey to Poland: inspired by Brion Gysin, and the matter of 'the wrong address’, my collaborator located an address incidentally connected to Gysin’s final literary work, Beat Museum/Bardo Hotel. Taking the concept of the Bardo as the state between death and re-birth (in Tibetan Buddhism), this liminal travel-piece explores the notion of a senseless destination; the obfuscation of language, translation, and the space which is not ‘meant’ to exist in the real world, but does according to the motive and interpretation of the traveller / inhabitant.

opening voice over:

Genesis P-Orridge speaking about Gysin, extract from an unreleased interview with Stanley Schtinter

sounds collaged together from:
The Pool K III, a composition by Brion Gysin with unidentified musicians. Recorded by Brion Gysin in the late 1950s or early 1960s
